Flight of the Uguisu

Inspired by the mating call of Uguisu (Japanese Nightingale / Japanese Bush Warbler)

Every spring the Uguisu migrates from Southern China, Korea, and Taiwan to the far reaches of northern Japan in order to breed. As such, they are widely known as the herald of spring in Japan, and their mating call signals the end of winter.

This piece is meant to represent their treacherous journey across land and sea in order to reach their breeding grounds far up north.
